»Upcoming Releases - May 2007 Edition
"New and improved! Contains 50% more staff!"

Howdy folks, Wolfdogg here, with this month's edition of Upcoming Releases. First off, I'd like to say that we've made a bit of an overhaul this time around, including a new format for sorting consoles, not to mention a new format for the preview. Now, instead of simply describing these new games, we're also going to be sharing our own feeling toward the game, or rather, the anticipation we feel for it. Please note that release dates may change, since these release dates were last updated on April 22nd, 2007.

Nintendo DS

Professor's Brainium Games
Estimated Release Date: May 1st, 2007

Just another non-game hoping to reap the success of Brain Age's. It doesn't appear that there's any reason why this'll be a particularly good copycat, so we shouldn't expect much outta it.

Anticipation: None, and I'm really trying to be nice. (3/10) ~ALttP

Etrian Odyssey
Estimated Release Date: May 9th, 2007

If you love first person dungeon crawlers, you'll love this. It looks great, plays great, and even better, has CREATE-A-MODE! While Create-a-Mode isn't quite as interesting as it is in, say, Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis, it's still a great feature, and simple to do as well. We've really got to give Atlus their dues - they do a great job bringing us great games, and this is no exception. I have very, very high expectations for this game, but I doubt that they're quite high enough!

Anticipation: OMFG. (10/10) ~ALttP

Code Lyoko
Estimated Release Date: May 15, 2007

Based on the French anime-influenced cartoon, Code Lyoko actually looks somewhat decent, considering it's a game based on a kids' TV show. It's an action game, but there appears to be something interesting as there are two gameplay engines. One for the real-world, which seems to resemble classic 2D adventure games, and one for the digital world Lyoko, a standard modern-day 3D beat-'em-up style. Now, I'm not too interested, but considering that this game isn't your standard "crappy 2D platformer thrown together at the last minute", there may be some hope for fans of the show.

Anticipation: Meh, not really looking forward to this at all. ~Wolfdogg

Touch the Dead
Estimated Release Date: May 15, 2007

In Eidos' Touch the Dead, you take on the role of Rob Steiner, the sole remaining human in a prison crawling with zombies. Yeah, I know what you're thinking, it sounds kind of like a House of the Dead rip-off. And in that respect you'd be right. But this is a light-gun game made for stylus shooting action, kinda like Point Blank DS (I guess). But the idea of blasting zombies on my DS sounds awesome.

Anticipation: Granted, for me, it's not quite "OMGMUSTBUYNOWROCKMANFTW", but it still sounds pretty interesting. Barring some massive last-minute screw-ups, I'll probably be looking to pick this up sometime. ~Wolfdogg

The New York Times Crosswords
Estimated Release Date: May 15th, 2007

Can’t find that news paper? Pen out of ink? Stumped on a four letter word for ‘Scrumtrelescent’? Just can’t take Sunday's insane difficulty? Power on your DS!
With over 1000 different crosswords and cooperative or competitive WiFi play this could be better than people yelling the answers over your shoulder! Even though, you know, it’s still going to totally happen.

Anticipation: If you like crosswords, and obviously have some time to kill… go for it. Me? I'll stick to my Sudoku. ~Suffix
