Hardware Review
»Noreve DS Tradition Case
"Not as good as it good be, but very good."

I am sorry I took such a long time to review this product. We recieved it quite a bit ago, but just looking at the site and you can tell that most of us have been in PSP mode, myself included. Now that I have access to another DS, I can give this product a fair review.

Let me start out saying that the DS doesn't need a case. With that in mind, the people over at Noreve did more than just make a case that protects the system. While it is true that the case will protect it from undue scratches and such, it has some neat extras.

The first thing I noticed was the on-board spot for an extra stylus. It's perfect for the PDA custom Panache stylus (but that's another story all together. As with all leather products, the more you use them, the more flexible it will get. Due to this, the stylus holder is fairly tight out of the box. It's a good thing, too. Otherwise, you would likely lose your stylus' later in the cases lifespan.

Moving on, the case also can hold 2 DS games and has two slots that look like they might hold GBA games. It's a good idea, but ultimatly, I think the only thing you'll be using these slots for is credit cards or as a money clip of sorts. This actually is a smarter idea since the DS really does take up a lot of pocket space, you could save some by leaving your wallet at home. The DS slots hold the games perfectly but the case is pretty tight with them in it.

Overall, I'd have to say that the case is made very well and of high-quality leather. It really does add a slight level of sophistication to your DS experience. As great as it sounds, it does have some very harsh negatives working against it. For one, there is no stylus access hole. What I thought was the hole for it appears to be a hole for the strap to pass through. It forces you to use the spare stylus holder that's built in. Another downside is the location of the closure snap. It dangles over the DS' top screen unless you fold back the top flap of the case which is quite uncomfortable.

After all is said and done, the question on most people's mind is, "Is it worth the cost?". In my opinion, it's not. Only those who pay top dollar for their accessories would really find any value in this product.
