"Probably the best hard PSP case."
 |
After feeling the
pangs of disappointment with my Intec 'aluminum' carrying case, I went
on a hunt for a more compact method of protection.
I had some luck with the Aero Case, but it wasn't sturdy enough for my
paranoid ass. I needed something that was very hard-shelled on the
outside with a snug-soft inside that would stop the PSP from sliding
around.
Behold, the Logitech Playgear! * Fanfare *

Built of near-indestructible lexan (polycarbonate ... same stuff they
make bulletproofing from), the outer shell is precision molded, with
openings for the AC plug, headphones jack, power and WLAN switches, and
both shoulder buttons. This serves 2 purposes; firstly, you still have
access to all these ports even when the case is closed shut ... very
handy for listening to your MP3s with the system safely tucked away in
your pocket.
Secondly, you can leave the PSP in the bottom half of the case while
still playing it ... this allows the top half of the case to act as a
sun shield (or so I've heard ... I hate sunlight and rarely go outside).
Inside the case, your PSP is cradled by 2 black rubber inserts, also
super-precision molded to the exact specs of the PSP. Seriously ...
they fit down to the micron (well, millimeter at least).
When the case is snapped shut, these rubber inserts act as a cushioning
'sandwich' and securely hold the PSP in place. Don't worry about
smudges on your screen ... the rubber never touches it ... it actually
sits snugly on the outer-most edges of the top face of the PSP, and is
slightly beveled, thus avoiding the screen.

The coolest factor of this superb case is that you can remove these
rubber inserts, cut out a picture, and place it inside the case
(between the rubber and the clear Lexan shell) making your case unique
as you wish.
Now for the negatives:
• It makes the system feel bulky if you decide to keep the PSP in the
case while you play. Just remove it if it bugs you so much (I do)
• No place to store your UMDs.
• The exposed ports may get some pocket fluff in 'em.
• It's such a hot item, that I have yet to see it in the stores. I had to order mine online.
