»Arkon Multi-Directional Mount
  ""

Arkon has made a few mounts for PSP. The one in this review will be the Arkon Multi-Directional Mount. The Multi-Directional Mount is probably my favorite of the ones that Arkon has to offer because it has a solid construction that’s very easy to move around.

The Multi-Directional Mount has the same mount as the gooseneck mount that I’ve already reviewed, but the arm that holds it is quite different. Instead of one long flexible tube, this one is made with a hard plastic and rotates to any angle possible. It’s perfectly capable of being mounted almost anywhere. Your dash, console or windshield are all fine choices on where to put it and with the included disk with a extremely sticky 3M tape on the back, you can mount it to almost any surface. The Multi-Directional Mount is a more stable mount in my opinion, and also looks much better than the gooseneck.

The construction of the mount is very solid. Like I said, it is made of a very hard plastic and is held together with metal screws. The unit can easily be moved to any angle, yet it still has enough versatility to hold the PSP upright without it bending over. With the unit being all black, it looks pretty normal in almost any car. I have mine mounted on the dash next to the dashboard, and it gives me easy access to changing songs or switching to view maps.

Just like the gooseneck model, this one suffers a little bit from the mount itself. I really don’t like how it clips in there and even though I’ve never personally had it fall out while driving, I just think the way it’s in there is a little unsecured. The mount holds it from the top and the bottom with nice foam of some sort, but a slight hit to the left or right side of the PSP could make it pop out. It’s fine if you put it in front of you, but maybe when in the console, it might not be good.

Overall, Arkon’s mount is pretty solid and can double as a mount for an Ipod, PDA, or any other small electronic device. Coupled with the sound feeder from Arkon, this is sure to delight any PSP user that wants to listen to music on the go. Another useful idea I came up with is using Mapquest and taking a screenshot of the directions and then putting them on the PSP to view. It’s not really as functional as a navigation system or anything, but it works pretty well and gives you easy access to the directions.
