»Mad Catz DS Batman Legends Pak
"Batman... no Robin"
 |
This kit will probably sell like
hotcakes, but this time, at least they’re getting something for their
money. Mad Catz is going with the Batman frenzy that is soon to come
with the recent release of the Batman Begins movie. The DS kit comes
with a few neat accessories, but still lacks overall.
DS Case
The Batman case from the outside looks pretty neat with its rubber
emblem on the front and back of it. The outside of it is alright, but
as soon as you open it, it loses all potential of being promising. The
inside has a clear plastic cover that goes over the top and bottom of
the DS with cutouts for speakers and the buttons on the bottom half.
The plastic not only makes it harder to see, it also affects the stylus
performance by making it harder to move it around smoothly. It also
covers where the DS should rest together and close and keeps the DS
always cracked a little bit. It doesn’t make the satisfying “snap”
anymore when you close the case.
DS Game Case
The game case is probably my favorite part of this package. It is a
little plastic case that opens like the DS to reveal spots for 6 games
and 2 styli. The inside is made out of a hard rubber and the outside is
made of a hard plastic. The front has some nice batman artwork and the
back has the Batman Begins logo. I’d feel pretty safe carrying my games
around in this case; the only thing that could really get to it now is
water, and that’s not very plausible.
Batman Skin
The Batman skin is basically just a sticker that is pre-cut to fit onto
your DS. One part goes on the front, another on the top half of the DS,
then there are two more that go around the buttons on the left and
right. The stickers go on pretty easily and come off just as easy.
They’re more of a gimmick than really practical, but they make the DS
look pretty cool. They’re sure to please any youngster.
Screen Protectors
I don’t really like screen protectors for the DS, but I had to try
these out anyways. They are like a contact with the soft plastic. They
have no glue on them or any sticky substance so they basically just
suction themselves on. This is good and bad. It’s good because they’re
easy to get off, but it’s bad because they’re easy to get on. They make
bubbles way too easily.
Overall
I don’t think I’d hate to get this pack as a gift because the game case
is pretty neat. The DS case kind of sucks, and I don’t really like the
screen protectors much, but the game case is really cool and the Batman
skin makes the DS look cool. If it's around $20-25, I'd buy it. You
really can’t go wrong unless you really need a good DS case. This one
works, but not well.
