If you’re looking for
protection, Aluminum or Plastic is your best bet. Aluminum offers
amazing protection without adding a lot of weight. Plastic is probably
lighter, but you try explaining that to a 3 foot fall. I really only
have a few problems with this case, otherwise it’s pretty solid all
around; you just have to be careful.
The shiny silver aluminum case looks pretty neat and looks really
suave. The overall case is pretty plain, but this time, plain worked.
The latch on the side is pretty odd looking, but it’s functional. The
case has cutouts all over for access to all of the PSP’s functions,
even the speakers. Even with all the cutouts, the PSP seems well
protected. The only spot that I’d be kind of weary about dropping the
PSP on is the memory card opening, it’s a little big and a drop right
there could do some damage.
The aluminum is also functional in making this case pretty durable. The
case takes scratches pretty easily, but its better the case than your
nice PSP screen and either way, the case doesn’t have to be in perfect
condition. The little no-slip rubber feet on the bottom can come off
with a little force, but the glue seems like it will hold for a while
and the feet are definitely pretty helpful to stop it from getting
knocked off tables. The inside of the case is made out of a soft
neoprene, which pretty much guarantees you PSP wont get hurt when
secured in the case. Getting it in the case is another story though;
you kind of have to be careful of the metal edges that are possible
hazards.
My biggest gripe about the case though is that it’s really not meant
for keeping the PSP in to play. It protects the PSP while transporting,
but it doesn’t give it protection while you’re playing it. You can try
to play the PSP in this case, but it’s pretty uncomfortable almost any
way that you put it because the case almost seems backwards. Instead of
the flap being on the top, it’s on the bottom and folds backwards.
Another problem with playing your PSP with the case is that the case
sometimes makes a clicking noise when you move it around too much.
This case could have been perfect for a stand for watching movies with
its solid construction. It can kind of be set up to watch movies, but
it only works if you’re looking at it from above… like sitting in a
chair and having it on the desk. So, it might be perfect for sneaking
in a movie while in class or something, but other than that, the case
has nothing to let you set it up to watch movies. There’s really
actually nothing special about this case, except the extraordinary
protection it offers.
If you’re someone who moves around a lot, or has their PSP in a
backpack or suitcase a lot, this case is definitely for you. You don’t
have to worry about breaking it because it’d take a lot to get at the
PSP through it. It really only has a few problems, like not being
really comfortable to play in the case and lack of a proper movie
stand,. It’s a pretty solid case, but the $34 pricetag might seem a
little steep. If you want to rest easier, you might want to look into
this one.
